I can’t afford Wiccan supplies. Help?
Author: admin / Category: Wiccan SuppliesMy parents have like, no extra money & I have NO Wiccan Supplies.
I was wondering if there’s different options that require little to no money.
P.S. I’m 17 and a beginning Eclectic Wiccan, not like that helps answer my question…
Haha.
:]
OhMGee, you people suck !
=O
OhMGee!
I can’t believe the responses I’m getting.
I DON’T BELIEVE IN CHRISTIANITY AND NOTHING YOU TELL ME WILL CHANGE THAT! SO STOP TELLING ME TO TURN TO GOD AND ALL THAT CRAP!
Yeah, idiot, I’m doing this to be cool!
Are you dumb?!
This is the path I feel was chosen for me.
It has NOTHING to do with being cool.
Half of my friends and family no NOTHING about this.
I haven’t came out of the ‘broom closet’ yet.
… OMG people are so dumb…!
I’m not Wiccan, but I am a poor college Pagan and have perfectly cool rituals using random things I keep in my home. For Beltaine, my friend and I just grabbed some ale, apples, honey, candles, incense and tiny candies and ended up with a full day ritual. Wicca is known for being highly ritualized, much like Catholicism, when it isn’t always necessary. I think generally the most important part of any religion is to acknowledge your deity/ies and to give them some sort of offering. Deities get that you may be terribly poor and generally appreciate that you took the time to do something for them.
If you’re REALLY big on supplies, you can get affect yet impoverish supplies scamming from your parents’ kitchen (a cup or fancier candle holder for a chalice, steak or butter knife for an athame, lighters/matches, herbs or kidnapping old flowers your dad got your mom and she threw out when they got old) outside (herbs, wands from twigs, stones etc), thrift stores, dollar stores, grocery stores and wal-mart (they actually have a lot of cheap incense and oils in their craft and home goods-candle section).
If you can afford a book, "The Urban Primitive" is a book that outlines what my friends and I call "Hobo Magik". It specifically cites ways that you can do pretty much anything you could ever want without spending a dime (for example, to get flower petals go a florist’s dumpster, using broken bottles and stones to represent the elements or protect your car with a dragon spirit) and if you do have a small bit of money, it gives cheap alternatives to a lot of expensive things. It’s definitely worth it if you want to use a lot of magik and spend as little as humanly possible.

They’re really not too expensive. Two or three nights on the street should cover the lot.

You can get a Bible for 50 cents at the thrift shop and read about how Wiccans are communicating with demons even when they think they are doing good.
Those who follow the path of the magic arts are on the wrong path – a road that leads away from God, not toward Him. In one way or another, the end will be disaster. The evil Queen Jezebel practiced witchcraft (2 Kings 9:22) bringing catastrophe on herself and all Israel. Over and over, God denounces those who “conjure spells” (NKJV) and those who practice witchcraft and sorcery. The Bible says that anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord (Deuteronomy 18:10-12; 2 Kings 21:6; Micah 5:12; Isaiah 47:12; Ezekiel 13:18, 20; Acts 8:11-24; Leviticus 20:27; Exodus 7:11; Revelation 9:21; 22:15).
God warns of the ultimate punishment. Revelation 21:8 says of "…those who practice magic arts …their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur… the second death" (NIV). Those who practice witchcraft (sorcery) will not inherit the kingdom of God (Galatians 5:20-21). These practices are anti-God and are in rebellion against Him.
You need to understand who God is and who you are as His creation. God created everything out of nothing, as His creation, your purpose is to glorify God. Nothing happens in this world that is not for the glory of God. God is holy, just and righteous. This is great; we do not want a corrupt God any more than we want a corrupt judge in court letting criminals go free.
This is our problem, because all people have sinned, fall short of the glory of God, and deserve the wrath of God as punishment for sin. The whole Gospel is about this problem, if God is a just God, he must send us all to hell because there are none righteous, no not one.
God handled this problem by sending His son Jesus to earth. Jesus, being God Himself became man and continued being both God and man in two distinct natures. While on earth Jesus led a perfect sinless life and earned no wrath. Think of your sins as debts, Jesus came to pay off the debts of those who believe in Him including every sin committed past present and future. All the wrath earned through sinning by those that believe in Him is poured out on Jesus instead of the sinner that deserves it. At the time of judgment, God sees the righteousness of Jesus in those that put their faith in Jesus. They are found blameless and are granted eternal life in the presence of our perfect and holy creator.
Jesus took all this wrath while being here in His creation, culminating on the cross and remaining under the power of death until the third day when he rose from the grave.
This is great news. Repent of your sins now and trust Jesus to save you from the hell you deserve. If you are faithful to trust Jesus to save you, He will. Call out to your God and ask Him to save you. Repent and believe where you are now.
If you believe this in your heart, God has saved you and blessed you with faith. Start your new life off by talking to God about your new faith:
Heavenly Father,
I am a sinner. I thank you for blessing me with a changed heart so that I can hate the sins that offend you.
I know You poured your wrath out on Your Son, Jesus. I know he was crucified and you raised him from the grave on the third day. I deserve the wrath you poured out on Your Son, Jesus Christ. I cannot save myself, Jesus is my only hope and I am putting my faith in Him alone. I need forgiveness; please save me from the hell I deserve. I want to spend eternity with Jesus in Heaven.
God, I am answering your call today. I will follow Jesus. I turn away from my sin and I look to Jesus.
Lord, bless me with faith and repentance anew each day so that I may persevere in my walk with you.
I make these petitions to you today with the authority granted to me by your son, Christ Jesus.
Amen.

I really as a friend recommend you don’t turn to this false religion. You are much more better than this.
Romans 1:25
They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
Hebrews 9:27
Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
Deuteronomy 18:10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in?a? the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. 12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord, and because of these detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you. 13 You must be blameless before the Lord your God.
God loves you too much to fall into such filth the devil just wants to confuse you with and trap you. I know its hard to understand now but take it from me you are not seeing the car crash ahead of you the destructive road that leads to death. Ask God to help make your paths straight and seek him not death. My mother was interested in ghosts and stuff and then as years went by she heard a laugh and im not even going to tell you how much horror we went through as a family just getting interested in ghosts its not a way to turn to. All the devil wants is to cause chaos and destruction in ones life trust me you dont want such a burden even if you think its okay.
1 Peter 5:8
8 Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
ADD: I hope and pray you listen because we all die alone and how sad it would be for you to waste such life and die a sinner. You really dont know what you are getting yourself into my friend people sometimes only see their faults after they have experienced it. I know this all sounds cliche about throwing religion on you but lol i would be a murderer if i didnt let you hear the truth its like holding the cure for cancer and not telling anyone about it. Repent ask for forgiveness because even the lord would forgive you for this. Listen to your fellow christians becuase there not here to cast stones at you, there here to help you and only wicked people would only tell you to turn to such wickedness. Ive said my last words but dont turn away from help when you have a helping hand to get you out of a ditch grab that hand before its too late, are your friends going to save you from death?

I’m not Wiccan, but I know some people who are, and they’re broke, too. Maybe you could trade to get some of the stuff you are looking for. Or just join a Wiccan online group and ask people if they would give it to you.

Speaking as a Wiccan of 16 years, you don’t need a lot of supplies — just a desire to honor and adore the Goddess and the God of our religion. Tools are really just props to aid in concentration, and the visualization of casting circle, calling the quarters, invoking the Lord and Lady, and so forth requires no tools beyond your own imagination and willpower.
If you’re looking for a minimum set of tools, I’ll recommend:
– two candles, one for the Goddess and one for the God, to be lit when invoking Them
– salt and water for purification
– incense for purification and for an offering to Them
That’s really all you need, and you don’t even need that if you have no place to set them up.
Best of luck to you in your studies.

I have been wicca since birth, officially dedicated myself in 94 and I will tell you that supplies are just tools. I get me herbs from the kitchen, candles can be birthday candles or if you want to make them yourself use wax crayons and melt them down. Wands can be you own finger or a twig that has fallen from a tree that you may have decorated with a bit of glitter, ribbons and glue or even carved. One of those who answered had a great idea of getting in touch with other wicca. Some may trade or sell their extras for little money. I got my athame at a yard sale because it felt right at the time. You don’t need a lot. Robes aren’t even necessary, just choose something from your closet and keep it just for ritual. If you have specific questions on how to make some of these things, let me know, or give me a list and I will see if I can help you with ideas.

Being head of a college Pagan group with a small budget

I’m sure you have cheep alternatives at home. I became Wiccan at 14. My altar started like this:
Two cool trinkets that I had laying around that reminded me of the Goddess and God.
A bowl from the kitchen. Woot for dual purpose cauldron and offering bowl.
A glass from the kitchen. I snitched a wine glass, hehe. Yay for cheep chalice.
Incense is cool but not necessary. My parents flipped out when I burned incense, so I started gathering flowers that bloomed on my walk home from school, or cool stones, etc.
Supplies are just tools. All that you really need is yourself and a want to honour the Deities. Over the years my altar has grown a bit. I still have some of the same items I started with back in the beginning. There is no rush to build an altar. Your magic and your religion are within you–not the tools.

I just stumbled across this topic and had to put something down. I really dislike it when people laugh and make jokes over questions. My own personal way is for myself, far more rewarding then the simple run to the store and buy your tools. Make your own and you may find a closer bond then something bought. prariecrow made a serious point, and yes you can cast a circle and perform your rituals without any massive tools, they are mostly used for your concentration at early stages. Some keep using them just because it makes them feel comfortable or as in my case it is just part of the ceremony.

So I will tell you that reconnecting with my path has been a long and infromative road. I had in the past gave everything once collected and created to family and friends because of cirumstances I will not get into. In the last year I have returned to my chosen path and have discovered that things bought in the past are are quite a bit more expensive than in previous years so I understand your concern with cash flow issues.
However, I have always connected more with the items I have either made myself or have been gifted by someone as opposed to store bought items. They are charged more with your intent rather than some of the negative energy of others, For example, a fallen tree branch from the woods makes and excellent wand which you can create into a beutiful piece of artwork by transforming it into exactly what you want. The beaches tend to have hag stones or natural formed holy stones on them and you can sometimes find quartz crytals there as well if you are lucky. Some everyday household cooking herbs are nown for magickal purposes as well and can be burned as incense or used for the creation of satchets, pillows, herbal infusions for yourbath etc.
a simple cup already in your home can act as a chalice, any surface you are comfortable with can become an altar and there is no right or wrong way to set that up, its all a matter of what is scared to you. Simple stones you feel a connection with can act as your elementals or power stones. The possibilities are endless and there are many websites, videos, etc where you can access free pagan and wiccan music, craft ideas, symbols, etc.
The main focus is that you don’t lose sight of your personal beliefs and you strive to always connect with nature and your spiritual center. Having expensive items that are not necessary does not make you a practicing wiccan,, your daily activities and actions are what does.
Yoou can do routine and daily affirmations these are free. You can access candles for burning purposes almost anywhere including the dollar store where you may even get a boat load for a dollar. You can make teas and infusions from what is already in your home. Meditation is always free and the easiest way to come to clarity as to how to obtain what you think you need. Ther are also a lot of blogers that do free giveaways with these items. I would look into them if you are adement about wiccan ritual tools.
Many blessings to you.

sorry about the misspelled words in earlier post. I am doing two things at once and wasn’t paying attention to my spelling. For the altar it should have said sacred not scared and as for the rest I’m sure you can figure out what I was saying.
Blessings
